Welcome to all oldbonos and newbonos.
So we got punished for doing too well.
(Basically.)
At this point, we need to start thinking about our strategy for the next two to three 'days' leading to the single-tribe merge. It's somewhat likely that we will start breaking down into smaller cells and possibly working towards our own victories. That's fine; however, it'd still be nice to have a Bono win. Thus, this post.
I believe the merge will happen at 10 people (7 jury + 3 finalists). We're currently 6-6. There are a few possibilities as to what will happen next:
1) We continue to roll on immunity challenges and take on another commanding lead in bodycount. I don't necessarily see this happening, but you never know. There *probably* won't be another juggle before the merge, so it'd be 6 on 4. In fact, we're going to be 6-5 after tonight, so...good start!
2) We trade immunity back and forth roughly evenly. This can happen if we lose tomorrow. Though we won't.
3) We get smoked on immunity challenges and Malta has a bodycount lead on us. This is looking very unlikely at this point.
---
1) is obviously best. Barring another mechanics mixup, when we get to this point, our first task will have to be the shunning of the unbelievers. In this instance, our vote targets have to be neither the 'leaders' or the 'unknowns' of Malta, because we need to a) assume they have the idol by this point and b) will be trying to push it onto who they think will be the Bono vote target. (It's kind of sneaky that the idol is not predeclared in this game, but we really don't have a choice.) If we hit the idol, a 6-4 vote potentially becomes 0-4-x and we lose someone. So, need to be careful.
2) is the tossup situation, where individual performance matters, and we need to start picking up individual immunities for our team. If we lose tomorrow's immunity challenge, I feel pretty good about being able to get the idol that day for us--it does of course depend on the number of riddles left. Whoever does have the immunity idol should, considering our team-based approach to playing these games versus real life Survivor, be trying to use it to roadblock the other faction's vote.
The major thing that changes will be that the single-tribe Exile vote will no longer be a friendly group action, but a real competition to prolong the chances of the losing faction. Here it's also important to keep our votes unified and get that idol (or two...there might be more than one) into our hands.
Now, endgame stuff...too early for that. We'll see.
